The Glenelg River begins as a small stream in the Grampians (VIC) and travels approximately 400km to reach its mouth at Nelson. In the lower section, where we will be canoeing, the river has carved a meandering gorge up to 50 metres deep in the Miocene limestone. It is a drowned valley formed during the Ice Ages. We will journey down the Glenelg River, travelling by canoe and walking through the eucalypt forests of the riverbank.
